Commendations or Strengths

There are many outstanding components of the Adult and Continuing Education departments. The staff of the departments on both campuses should be commended for their dedication to quality, their professionalism, and commitment. The ACE department utilizes a variety of marketing techniques.

The staff is flexible and always willing to share infonnation and deliver programs to the local technology center as well as to other technology centers throughout the state. The administration appears to be very supportive and allows the staff at both campuses the time and funding needed to attend training for continued professional development.

The El Reno coordinator is very involved in the community and works extremely hard to keep up with the continuous changes in training needs. Her involvement in the community along with the individual one-on-one time that the staff spends with the students provides great insight into the training needs of the district.

The marketing efforts of the El Reno campus are also very effective. This is very evident because of the low cancellation rate (15%) of the classes offered.

The Adult and Continuing Education staff effectively uses advisory committees to focus on the training needs of the community. They meet twice a year with their own advisory committee and also use input from the advisory committees of the full-time programs to gain valuable input on the needs ofthe community. The staff also does a good job of utilizing statistical infonnation and evaluation of community needs to help guide decisions in program development.

The staff provides outstanding instructional support through orientation, annual in-service activities, professional development opportunities for part-time instructors, and feedback provided to instructors from in-class evaluations conducted by the coordinators.
