INSTITUTIONAL PURPOSE

Introduction

The institutional purpose should be embodied in the technology center's mission and vision statements, goals, and objectives and should express the scope of responsibilities to the students being served by the district and the outcomes to be achieved. The strategic plan should help set priorities and guide decision-making at every level of the organization.

Commendations or Strengths

Completing the Denison Culture Survey is an important step in including all employees in the strategic-planning process. Close communications with advisory committee members is key to involving external stakeholders.

Specific Recommendations for Improvement

This administrative review standard was met.

General Suggestions for Improvement

While the mission and vision statements have been widely communicated, more communication of the tech center's goals should be done so that all publics are made aware of the plan and understand it. The administration and staff should continue to work with advisory groups to identify and serve special populations and their needs.

Increased documentation and communications about how all stakeholders are involved in the review and evaluation of the strategic plan needs to be done on an annual basis.

To ensure accountability to community stakeholders, the mission, vision, and goals included in, the strategic plan could be included on the external website as well as in the annual report.
