INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS

Introduction

The Chickasha and El Reno campuses of Canadian Valley Technology Center have shown to be innovative in their educational endeavors both now and in the past. New plans now on the drawing board are further evidence of this innovation.

Commendations or Strengths

The administration and local board are to be commended for their entry into the academy approach to learning with the pre-engineering and biomedical academies. This is a new strong role in the partnership between technology centers and their sending schools. The technology center does a good job in surveying sophomores to determine program interest.

There are many innovative things happening in the district. The partnership with Tech Centers That Work, the WorkKeys KeyTrain project, and Project Connect are examples of new ways to meet old needs.

The Foundation grants made available to staff to stimulate innovative projects is certainly a worthwhile effort. These grants benefit both the students and the teachers who want to try new projects.

Perhaps the most unique project is the proposed construction of the new campus on Czech Hall.
The partnership with one of the sending schools in land purchase adjacent to the new technology center should help ensure district support for both the technology center and the partner school.
