COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING

Introduction

Canadian Valley Technology Center, Chickasha Campus, offers a wide variety of career and technology education, programs, and services. The marketing and public relations function provides high quality and comprehensive efforts for the campus. They have consistently displayed a commitment to internal and external communications and the important role they play in contributing to the success of the organization.

Commendations or Strengths

The marketing office at Chickasha has effectively executed the strategies outlined in its marketing and communications plan. The staff’s commitment to seeing projects through to the evaluation component speaks of their desire for excellence in meeting their strategic goals.

Several areas illustrate that commitment:

The communications and marketing staff has illustrated a commitment to their strategic goals through several activities. These include internal communications through the development of the Intranet and success celebration. A new website for external communications also has been launched. They also have focused on outreach to partner schools through planned displays, a counselors' breakfast, and a boot camp. Student successes are celebrated, and staff and instructors have initiated one-to-one retention efforts.

This administrative review standard was met.

General Suggestions for Improvement

While the marketing and communications plan aligns with the campus's strategic plan and clearly provides support for Goal 3 and some support for Goal 5, the staff is encouraged to expand efforts to other campus goals as well. Opportunities also tuight exist to streamline recruiting efforts and market business and industry services on a district wide basis. Although individual campus plans exist, seeking ways to streamline key messages might prove beneficial.
The staff is encouraged to continue to provide specific data and measures in the evaluation component of the plan.

Additionally, the Chickasha staff has done an excellent job in producing high-quality marketing tools. However, with current workload and future district expansion, the prospect of employing a graphic designer, either as an intern or staff member, should be considered.
