PROGRAM EVALUATION SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

The Graphic Design program provides instruction in safety, desktop layout, and industry-standard software. At the time of the evaluation, there were 41 students enrolled. Of these students, 17 wre enrolled in the morning section (16 high school students and 1 adult full-time student) and 22 were enrolled in the afternoon section (21 high school studetns and 1 adult full-time student).

COMMENDATIONS OR STRENGTHS

The program budget is adequate. The students were able to work on task with very little assistance from the instructor while the evaluation team was observing the program. The facilities were clean. The program was outlined and explained well to individuals before they enrolled in the program.

The teacher is very ac tive in professional development activities. Students share and work with a variety of live-work projects. The student projects are displayed and used as promotional materials.

All Program minimum standards were met.

GENERAL SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT

STANDARD 1 Instructional Planning and Organization


The teacher should have documentation showing the signature of the student adn parent/guardian, if applicable, to show they have been informed about the program prior to the student's enrollment.

The teachers should continue to look at ways to integrate and reinforce curriculum with other programs, both within the technology center and with sending-school instructors.

STANDARD 3 Qualified Instructional Personnel

The instructor should visit a trade show such as Chicago Print Expo or Dallas Printing to assist him in keeping up with the industry and technology.

STANDARD 5 Equipment and Supplies


The program should have at least three Mac computers so the students can become familiar with equipment that may be used in industry.
