| INTRODUCTION |
|
The Agriculture Business Management (ABM) program at Canadian Valley Technology Center, Chickasha Campus, primarily provides training to farm and ranch families. The training helps them to make better management decisions by assisting them to learn better recordkeeping practice, analyze the situation these records help describe, propose alternatives, and decide what to do about the situation. The program serves approximately 37 farming/ranching operations and 63 individuals.

| COMMENDATIONS OR STRENGTHS |
|
The primary strength of the program is its flexibility to reach the needs of busy adult learners. Most agricultural families rely on one or two off-farm incomes to make the farming lifestyle work. The program meets the needs of these families by providing one-to-one learning moments, beginning with goal setting, proceeding to computerized recordkeeping, then evaluating the family's financial situation, and finally the family making sound management decisions to change the situation if necessary. This instruction qualifies a majority of these families to continue a relationship with the Farm Service Agency of the United States Deparment of Agariculture (FSA USDA) lending programs becuase they have met the agency's borrower training requirements. The coordinator works well with the advisory committee. The group suggested working on a commodity marketing training strategy. The no-till farming series with Chisholm Trail Farm Credit and other partners is another example of taking action on the committee's input. The instructor is recognized as a leader of the statewide ABM instructors due to his tenure among the group and he is often asked to represent the group at Oklahoma Department of Caree and Technology Education meetings. |

The coordinator should continue to network with existing Agricultural Education Education programs in the district. He could offer assistance to new instructors in the area with farm business rlated activities and with FFA student organization activities. |
